Da Nang Pham Van Dong neighborhood walk — from a morning bowl to neon at night
Based at the stay, August 21-23. Mi quang and banh mi, sidewalks by day, neon by night, a 24-hour minimart — a day on foot.
Home base
I walked Pham Van Dong with OceanSight as the base point. The meals and streets of August 21 to 23. A neighborhood that fills a day even without a special destination.
Morning, mi quang
The morning of the 21st was mi quang. In a blue-patterned bowl: pork, quail eggs, peanuts and a sesame rice cracker. A representative Da Nang breakfast noodle — eaten close by and quickly, and back out the door.
Banh mi and noodles
On the 22nd I had the egg banh mi at BA HƯNG. A whole banh mi wrapped in a paper sleeve, the egg filling with vegetables blended in showing through. The same day I also noted a beef rice-noodle soup piled with scallions and onion. Two meals a day solved in the neighborhood, without getting tired of it.
Sidewalks by day
On the day of the 23rd, cafe stools, parasols and red and yellow plastic chairs on the sidewalk slowed my steps. A street where geometric paving blocks, street trees and a high-rise under construction came into one frame. Daytime Pham Van Dong stays in memory as people sitting.
Neon by night
At night the bulb string lights toward the beach hung over white facades and patterned sidewalks. When the seafood and BBQ neon came on, the temperature of the street changed. I passed the Illusion Cafe of the YouTuber Danangiji and kept a photo, and brushed past the pink cathedral too.
Minimart recharge
Follow the seafood neon toward My Khe and the phone tires before you do. I charged it for a while at Việt Minimart, the 24-hour minimart next to the stay, then went in. The comfort of having one always-open store in the block was no small thing.
Summary
Pham Van Dong was a walking neighborhood. One morning bowl, sidewalks by day, neon by night, a minimart that stays open. The Xeo Xeo dinner and the My Khe walk are stories that came out of this neighborhood.
